I was the child that came last at cross country in school.  

Actually, to be fair to myself, I was third from last.  The child with asthma and the child that wasn't trying came behind me.
I missed the ball in rounders, my passes in hockey were pitiful, I wasn't strong enough to get on the trampoline, let alone brave enough to do a seat drop and I liked being Goal Defence in netball so I didn't have to do as much catching (or in my case, missing).
One year my sports day team captain put me down to run the 800 meters. 
What did I do?  I paid a girl in my class £4 to run it for me.

I was about 7 at the time, while he was 11 and best friends with my brother. 
Alas it wasn't meant to be and he is now happily engaged and has just welcomed his second son, Kellen, into the world.

My 6 New Years Resolutions

To some people, New Years Resolutions are a waste of time.

Don't get me wrong, I know where they are coming from.  Why do we need a specific date to make big changes in our lives?  Why not make that change today?  Why change anything at all?

But at the same time, I love the feeling of having a 'fresh start'. 

Part of my love of New Years Resolutions comes from my love of setting myself tasks.  There is nothing more satisfying than crossing something you've accomplished off of a list.

My resolutions are nothing groundbreaking - in fact some of them are downright predictable but I'm excited to start working on them already.

Sebastian's mum got in touch when he was 6 days old for a last minute Newborn Photo Shoot.  I booked him in as quickly as I could and ended up taking his photos when he was just 14 days old.

The ideal time for a newborn to be photographed is between 5 & 10 days but I do offer posed photo shoots to babies up to three weeks.  I might not get as many sleepy posed photos at 3 weeks but it all depends on the baby - some still sleep like a dream!

The best thing about photographing family is that it's more like a day out rather than work.  I can try things and happily admit when they don't work and at the end you get to hang out, practice cartwheels and eat ice-cream.  (Unfortunately I was too full from ice-cream for the cartwheels otherwise obviously I would have joined in...)

You do not have to hold a naked baby if you're not interested in playing 'pee roulette'.  Instead we can use a nice neutral blanket (or colourful, it's your choice!) and wrap your little one up nice and snug.

Number 3 - I hand wrap and deliver their products, which according to a lot of my clients, is a lot like Christmas!

Rhea's family first got in touch when she was 2 weeks old.

As newborn shoots usually take place in a babies first 5 - 10 days, I booked them in nice and quickly so we could capture all those tiny details before she grew too much. 
There was no need to worry about her being more alert though - she was the perfect sleepy baby for the majority of her photo shoot!

I have people travel to me from all over Herts, Beds & Bucks with their newborns, but when Rhea's dad got in touch, I realised they only lived a few streets away - nice and easy!
