So now comes the fun part - how are you going to announce it your friends and family?

You want something fun, something memorable and something easy (because hello, you’re pregnant and are busy growing a baby right now!) As is always the way with the internet, there are tons of ideas out there and it can be a bit overwhelming knowing what direction to go in so I’ve put together a list of ideas that will hopefully lead you to your perfect pregnancy reveal.

Fun, Memorable and Easy Pregnancy Announcements

  1. The reveal t-shirt - Whether it’s ‘Big Brother’, ‘World’s Best Grandma’ or ‘Arriving this September’, a reveal t-shirt is a nice easy way to let people know you’re pregnant. The fun part is watching how long it takes to realise what the t-shirt means!
You can either make one yourself or pick something up on sites like Etsy.

  2. Frame a scan picture - Once you’ve told someone you’re pregnant, the first thing they will want to see is your scan photos (you know, after giving you a hug). Why not get a step ahead and have one framed, ready for them to show off to everyone who visits. Let’s face it, it’s probably going in the handbag to work as well!

  3. Include a hobby - There’s nothing cuter than a tiny version of something so why not include a miniature version of something you love. So for me that might be a picture of two big camera’s for parents and a smaller one to show a baby is on the way. If you’re into gaming you could have two game controllers and then a toy controller or two big sets of ski’s with some tiny ski’s in between.

  4. Shoes - Set up your camera and take a photo of both your and your partners feet with some baby shoes next to you.

  5. Play a game - There are loads of games you could play and fit in a pregnancy reveal. You could sneakily swap out scrabble tiles to place words like ‘bottle’ or ‘baby’ or change the questions in a quiz until they finally cotton on.

Why not play the game where one person wears headphones and you have to guess what the other person is saying.

  6. Bun in the oven - If you really want to confuse people, put a bun in the oven and ask someone to get something out the oven for you. The confusion when they find it makes it even better when they realise what you mean.

  7. Include the dog (other animals also allowed) - Photograph your beloved pet with a sign saying ‘promoted to big brother’, ‘new tummy scratcher coming May 2021’ or ‘official baby toy tester’.

  8. Use the time of year - Whether it’s a tiny pumpkin next to two big pumpkins or a Christmas decoration on the tree, if it’s a special time of the year try and come up with something related to the celebration.

  9. Books - Put together 4 or 5 books into a bundle with a note from your future baby saying they can’t wait for their bedtime stories from their future nanny/auntie etc.

  10. Cross stitch - If you’re crafty, I’ve seen beautiful cross stitched scan pictures that any grandma would definitely put pride of place.

  11. A riddle - If you search for ‘pregnancy announcement riddle’ there are some great things you can write in cards and enjoy the confusion as they try and work out what it means.

  12. Roses are red, violets are blue, I’ve got a secret and here’s your clue - Include some little booties or a baby vest with a little note with this poem and you will 100% melt hearts.

  13. Pregnancy announcement scratch cards - Yes you read that right. Say you’ve bought them a scratch card and watch as they reveal that actually ‘we’re having a baby’. You can find them on Amazon.

  14. A little trinket - Whether it’s a necklace or a keyring, something that they can have on them at all times is a lovely reminder whenever they pick up their keys of what is to come.

  15. A puzzle - If you’re telling a keen puzzler, get a custom puzzle printed and watch as they slowly reveal the message.

I really hope this has helped with your search for the perfect pregnancy reveal. If you end up using one of them, make sure you send me a message so I can celebrate with you!
