Becki Williams Photography - 2019 Summed Up!

Another very busy year has passed and it’s time to look back at what Becki Williams Photography got up to in 2019.

We turned 5!

This year Becki Williams Photography has officially been up and running for 5 years! That’s hundreds of babies and families photographed, thousands of photos edited and lots of laughs.

Thank you to everyone who booked me as their photographer, whether that was in year 1 or year 5. Thank you for every review left, every Facebook post like and for anyone who has shared my work with their friends and family.

The launch of Cake Smashes

In 2019 I started photographing Cake Smashes and so far I’m absolutely loving them! Luckily enough, you all seem to be loving them to.
My prop selection is growing and my set ups are becoming more and more elaborate with floral, summery setups and snowy, wintery ONEderlands.
I’ve started working with a local bakery, providing gorgeous, smash-able cakes or if you’d like to provide your own, I’ve written a blog post about how to choose the best Cake Smash cake Here.

Tons of New props

There has been some serious shopping happening over the last year. It's impossible to remember it all but I have added new backdrops, wraps, headbands and bonnets. You name it, I’ve bought it!! I’ll be doing some model calls next year to photograph it all so keep an eye out on Facebook if you’re interested in taking part in one of those.

Digital Backgrounds & Video

Digital backgrounds are a great way to add some gorgeous, intricate setups to a newborn shoot gallery, while your baby stays safe and comfy on my posing beanbag. This year I included them more than ever in my clients galleries and can’t wait to use them even more in 2020.
As for videos, I opened an Etsy shop selling video overlays to other photographers and have so far sold over 150. My Falling Snow Video Overlay even got market as a Best Seller on Etsy in November, which was very exciting!

Training

In August I attended a newborn posing training day in Oxford with Little Love Photography. The very clever Emma took me and a few other photographers through her workflow when posing newborns teaching us everything from lighting, safety and posing techniques. It was great to get some in person training and also spend some time with some fellow newborn photographers.

Mini Shoots

This year I offered Milestone Mini, Back to School Mini and Christmas Mini Shoots.

In May I did Milestone Mini photo shoots. They are short, 30 minute shoots for 6-9 month old babies to capture their latest achievements, whether that’s sitting, standing or great tummy time skills.
The personality of babies at this age makes me fall in love with every one of them!!

I launched Back To School Mini Shoots in September for anyone who wanted to mix things up from the standard school photo. They included a chalk overlay to record their favourite colour and what they wanted to be when they grew up. They were a big hit so I’ll definitely be doing them again this year.

The Christmas Mini Set Up was amazing this year (If I do say so myself). I went with a winter, snowy theme with a wooden sledge and snowballs to throw at me - and believe me, they were thrown at me a lot!
I’ve already started thinking of ideas for next Christmas!

Shoot & Share Competition

In early 2019 I entered my first ever photography competition. It’s open worldwide and you can enter up to 50 images to a whole range of categories. My aim was to get at least one image in the top 50% and I actually made it into the top 30 with many images and the top 10 with one.
As nerve wracking as it was, I’ll definitely be entering again in 2020.

2019 felt like a big year.

Along with everything listed above I could write for ages about all of the blogs I wrote, all the newborn setups I designed and everything I shared on social media. It was a busy year of launching new photo shoots and taking what I already offered to the next level.

2020 will be all about growing what I launched in 2019 and I’m excited to get started. I think it’s going to be a good year!
