The Newborn Photographs you HAVE to take

Expecting a baby is one of the most exciting times of your life.

Pregnancy flies by in a rush of appointments, shopping for essentials and making sure you finish everything you need to at work before maternity leave starts.

Having a baby is a huge life milestone, and you want to capture every precious moment of it.  I know from talking to parents in my newborn photography studio that the first few days after your baby arrives pass by in a beautiful blurry baby bubble.  So with that in mind I’ve created the definitive list of the newborn photographs you HAVE to take.

The list is available as a free to download Jpeg, which you can keep on your phone and you can grab by clicking below.

It’s a good idea to get familiar with the list before baby arrives as lots of the photographs I suggest are taken in the first 24 hours after your baby arrives.
If you’re going to use your mobile phone you’ll need to make sure you have plenty of storage on your phone (and don’t forget to pack a charger in your hospital bag!).  If you have a DSLR or bridge camera, make sure you pack storage cards and spare batteries!
You might want to make sure your birthing partner has a copy of the list and is familiar with your camera if you’re not using a phone.

The snaps you take when your baby is brand new will be among the most precious in your family albums.  Remember though that your mobile phone will only be suitable to make prints for albums rather than large wall art you can proudly display in your home.

If you want portraits to display as canvasses or prints, then you might want to consider booking a newborn portrait session.  You can book a session at any time but to be able to create the most stunning portraits for you, it’s best to make your booking before your baby arrives.  You can find out more about my newborn sessions Here.
