Newborn Photography | Hemel Hempstead | Charlie & Alice

When Charlie & Alice's mum got in touch asking for Newborn Photography for twins I was very excited!
This is my 6th twin photo shoot and it's never any less special!

The twins arrived at 26 weeks and spent around 2 months in hospital before being allowed home.  I got to meet them at at around 3 months old, at which point they still hadn't reached their due date!

Charlie was small and Alice even smaller but they were happy and healthy and ready to be photographed.

As with most shoots, I started by wrapping them both up nice and snug, which they loved.  Alice wasn't so keen on sleeping to start but she was happy when cuddled up to her brother.  I think it looks a bit like she's protecting him!

Their mum and dad brought lots of meaningful items to include in their photos.

The first were these tiny baby grows and premature sized nappies, which they wore while still in hospital.
Considering they both still seemed so small, it was crazy to think that a few weeks ago they were only a few lb and fitting into these tiny nappies.

In the past i've always been lucky with newborn twins; they've slept really well together.  These two on the other hand decided to take it in turns to be awake!
When wrapped, Charlie was asleep and Alice awake and then when unwrapped it was the other way round.

Another little item it was nice to see again were these little Octopuses from Octopus For A Preemie.  They are used in the NICU to comfort newborn babies and to help them stop grabbing their wires.  If you're a crocheter and would like to help or if you'd like to learn more about the charity you can do so here.

Another little item we included were these personalised teether's, which Charlie & Alice's aunty had sent from New Zealand.  These two images were ordered as prints to be sent back to her as a thank you in time for Christmas.

Although they may have enjoyed being awake for a lot of the shoot, we did get some sleepy moments.
Alice fell into a deep enough sleep for some gentle posing.  She looks so gorgeous but so tiny.

At the end of the shoot they were finally sleepy enough to get a few posed pictures together.  Don't let them fool you though - they were still being wriggle bums between moments of being settled!

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph this adorable duo.  Having the opportuniy to photograph twins is a privelidge and one that I hope I get again in the future.
