Newborn baby in parents hands on black blanket in black and white

When should I book my newborn shoot?

You can contact me any time during your pregnancy to book your newborn photo shoot.  I will add a temporary date to the calendar which we will change depending on when he or she arrives.

Newborn shoots ideally take place within the first 5 - 10 days after baby is born. That way they are still nice and sleepy and extra flexible to get into those super cute poses.
If you've missed the 5-10 window, don’t worry! I’ve photographed perfectly sleepy 5 week olds in the past - it just all depends on the baby on the day.

Where do you do the shoot?

Posed newborn photo shoots take place in my specially designed newborn studio in my home in Emerson Valley, Milton Keynes.
There’s a relaxing waiting area with a ajoining studio room where you can have a rest while watching me photograph your little one. You can even have a nap if you like - you would not be the first!

Do you provide the blankets and accessories?

I have a selection of blankets, wraps, hats, headbands and accessories that I use during your shoot.  On your booking form there is space for you to tell me what colours you like, whether you like hats and headbands and whether you prefer images on my beanbag (the ones on the blankets) or in larger props like bowls and crates.
If you'd like to bring your own items to include in the shoot, please try and tell me beforehand or when you first arrive.

How long does a shoot last?

I usually find that shoots last around 2-4 hours.  I set aside extra time for newborn shoots for settling, feeding and cleaning up messes and only ever book one newborn shoot a day so there is absolutely no rush.
Some babies are happy from beginning to end and some need a little more time to settle.

What if my baby wees or poos?

It is very rare that a newborn photo shoot goes past without a baby doing a wee or a poo!  I have waterproof sheets between each blanket and can switch to a clean one very easily.
I even keep clean clothes ready in case it happens on me!

Can I have parent/sibling photos?

Of course! Let me know in advance and i'll set everything up before you arrive so we can do them first.  That way you can relax for the rest of your time with me.
If siblings aren't too keen to have their photo taken at the beginning of the photo shoot we can try again at the end.

Becki, I'm tired, I look a mess and I don't want to be in any photos.

If you don't want to be in any photos, that's also fine.  You've just had a baby, turn up in your pyjamas if that's what you're most comfortable in right now.

What should I bring with me?

All you need to bring is anything you'd usually take on a day out with your baby.  If you have anything you'd like to include in your photos, let me know in advance and bring that along as well.

I breast feed/bottle feed/a mixture of both.  Is that ok?

This is a non judgement zone.  Whether you had a home birth/water birth/drug free/all the drugs/bottle feed/breast feed/two mums/two dads - all are welcome here!

When do I get to see the photos?

A link to a private, passworded online viewing gallery will be emailed to you two weeks after your shoot. You then have one week to look through those images and let me know which you’d like to purchase.

How to I book?

You can book by emailing me at contact@beckiwilliams.co.uk or by using the form below.
Once you have got in touch and we have discussed what you'd like from your photo shoot, I have an online booking and paying system which is very quick and simple to use.
