Lilian's Newborn Photo Shoot - Milton Keynes

Whenever a newborn shows up with hair I always get really excited.

I don’t know what it is but babies with hair are just so adorable!

Not only does little Lilian have gorgeous hair, she has beautiful big eyes, which she loved to show me as she was very wide awake at the beginning of her newborn photo shoot! Just look at her staring right at me!

As sleepy as newborns generally are, some choose the day of their newborn photo shoot to be the first day they want to be wide awake. If that happens it’s completely fine. Your baby is boss and if they want to be awake, we roll with it.

That doesn’t mean I don’t try all my tricks to keep them calm and settled though. That includes making sure they have a nice full tummy and making the room nice and cosy and warm. Some newborns keep up the fight and stay awake as long as possible but others, like Lilian, can’t resist falling into a nice, deep sleep. Some parents call me a baby whisperer (so much so that I have it on a t-shirt!)

Lilian seemed to love being on her tummy. She curled up peacefully and snoozed away. Her parents wanted to include headbands in some of the photos so I made sure I had a selection with matching wraps and blankets ready to go.

These are the tiny details that last such a short amount of time. The things you look back on and say ‘remember her little back rolls?’ or ‘remember how tiny her feet used to be?’ That’s why capturing these details is so important. In the blink of an eye, the newborn stage is done.

To end the photo shoot, I moved Lilian onto a white, fluffy blanket. She decided she’d had enough of sleeping by then and was back to staring right at me. You can see it didn’t last long though…

Thank you so much to Lilian and her family for choosing me to be her newborn photographer. It was my absolute pleasure and I hope we get to meet again in the future.
