1. Find good light
Early morning or just before sunset is the best time for the best light. The sun is low and a lovely golden colour. It's also softer so you won't get as harsh shadows as at midday.Read More
Logan's mum first got in touch about a month before her due date to book in her Newborn Photo Shoot. We discussed everything she liked and didn't like and booked her in for around a week after she was due.
Logan, it seems, had other plans though as he arrived almost 4 weeks early! He had to stay at Luton and Dunstable Hospital for around a month so we kept pushing his shoot date back until he was given the all clear and was able to go home.Read More
Little Lottie came for her Newborn Shoot a few weeks ago in response to a Model Call a put out on my Facebook Page.
Model calls are when I ask parents to bring in their newborn baby for a free photo shoot so that I can perfect something before trying it with a paid client.
It might be that I want to practice a certain pose or try out new lighting. In Lottie's case I had a few new creative ideas that I wanted to try.
Firstly, if you're not having photos taken you can wear what ever you like! You are very much very welcome in your pyjamas if that's what makes you happy. If anyone has anything negative to say about that, point to your newborn baby and carry on.Read More
Every April the bluebells appear and we are treated to sheets of beautiful purple flowers just begging to be photographed. But what's the best thing for you and/or your children to wear?
Here are a few tips to help you pick out the perfect outfits.Read More
His mum had had a C-section and was unable to travel to me so I hopped in my car and went to them instead.
When I arrived, the house was nice and warm and ready for me to set up in their living room.
People always worry that their houses won't be big enough when I travel, but usually any living room space is fine. I may have to move a table or close a curtain but I'm pretty adaptable!Read More
If your phone died right now, how gutted would you be? How about your computer? How many photos would you lose?
You never think it's going to happen to you until the day it does (oh yes, I've been there) and before you know it your stomach is in your throat and your photos possibly gone for good.Read More
When I can, I try and photograph babies between 5 & 10 days but if it doesn't work out like that, it's fine. The older the baby the less likely they will want to curl up and sleep but that doesn't mean we still can't get gorgeous photos!Read More
Ok so technically it's pretty grim outdoors but can we finally celebrate the fact that Spring is here now?
Yes ok it is pouring today, and yes ok there is more snow forecast in some places over Easter but yesterday - yesterday it was lovely and sunny! We're not blessed with a whole bunch of sunny days in grand old Hemel Hempstead so lets not forget the ones we do have!Read More
Little Poppy came from Berkhamsted for her newborn shoot when she was 10 days old.
And when I say little, I really mean it. She was born at Luton & Dunstable Hospital at 35 weeks and weighed just 5.5lb.
She was the perfect little sleeper but my goodness did she like a good wriggle! I would get her into position, let her get comfy, and then we were good to go....until she decided it was time to wriggle again!Read More
Eliana came for her newborn photo shoot when she was 7 days old.
Her mummy knew she was having a c-section so we were actually able to book her shoot in on a certain day and keep it there, which doesn't happen very often when you're working with unpredictable newborns!
With a full tummy and toasty warm room, my run of perfectly sleepy babies continued as she slept from beginning to end without any fuss.Read More
The sun is low, the mornings frosty and we generally get at least a dusting of snow. Walking the dog is a daily soggy and muddy mission and the days working from home are spent 'discussing' with my husband whether the heating needs to be on or not.Read More
I first met the Hayward family back in 2015 when their son Harry was born. They had a relaxed photo shoot in their home, which included a few studio style photos with Harry and then some relaxed family images.
I was VERY excited to hear when Harry's little sister had arrived and we arranged to do a similar style shoot.Read More
It's been a long day, a long night, ok let's face it - a long 9 months, but now your little one has arrived and it's time to enjoy every second.
Those few hours or days in the hospital are the start of your journey with your new arrival and it's just as important to capture the moments then as it is when you get home.Read More
It's been a struggle. it's been a tough, tough task. But over the last few days I've been trialling a few different pancake recipes to see which ones are the best.
Don't say I never do anything for you.
Below I have listed the ingredients, method and my verdict on three different pancake recipes:
When it comes to your Newborn Photo Shoot I have everything you need.
Years of hard work (...shopping) has resulted in a large selection of blankets, wraps, hats, headbands and props as well as all the 'behind the scenes' items that make your newborn shoot run smoothly.Read More
Teddy came from Beaconsfield for his Newborn photo shoot when he was 8 days old. He had kept his family waiting an extra 5 days and they were very happy to finally meet him - especially his big sister Isla.Read More
Hemel Hempstead Maternity, Newborn & Baby Photographer.
My name is Becki and I am chief photographer, editor, newborn poser, dribble wiper, song singer and toddler chaser of Becki Williams Photography! I strongly believe that if a photographer does not leave your shoot with sore limbs or muddy knees (or a muddy bum, it's happened!) then they're not doing it right! I love getting to know families as they grow and capturing moments in time for them to treasure forever.
